English Language Requirements

There is a minimum level of English language skills that are required to study at TAFE Queensland for international students who do not speak English as their first language are as follows:

Certificate III, Certificate IV, Diploma* and Advanced Diploma:

  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic: Overall 5.5 (with no score lower than 5.0)

Undergraduate programs:

  • International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic: Overall 6.5 (with no score lower than 6.0)

* Please note: many programs and some passport nationalities may require higher IELTS (Academic) than the minimum of IELTS 5.5 and/or include specific sub-score requirements.

Applicants are required to meet at least one of the English language entry requirements listed in the equivalencies table.
